SACRAMENTO — California State Parks and partners will be celebrating the fourth annual California State Parks Week with special events at state parks throughout the Bay Area beginning Wednesday, June 11. Presented by California State Parks, California State Parks Foundation, Parks California and Save the Redwoods League, this exciting celebration will feature special programs and activities highlighting the diversity of the nation’s largest state park system.

California State Parks Week Kickoff at Samuel P. Taylor State Park: The weeklong celebration kicks off with an assortment of interactive activities including tai chi, mural painting, camp games, intro to birding, hiking through an old growth redwood grove, and a special appearance from the Lorax as part of an exciting new partnership with Dr. Seuss Enterprises. Media availability begins at 8 a.m. (RSVP: Newsroom@parks.ca.gov); public event starts at 11 a.m. Samuel P. Taylor will also host a Pride Month celebration on June 13 and another day of guided hiking through the redwood grove on June 14.
Thursday, June 12
Bird Walk on Angel Island State Park: Learn about the birds of the bay from its largest island. Angel Island State Park will also be offering free admission to the U.S. Immigration Station on June 13 and 14, hosting a beach cleanup on June 14 and having guided hiking and biking tours on June 15.
Hike and Bioblitz at Tomales Bay State Park: Hear about the varied biomes of Tomales Bay that are teeming with life on a guided hike.
Friday, June 13
Exploring Fire Resiliency Work at Trione-Annadel State Park: This guided hike will take visitors through diver biomes that have been shaped by fire – or a lack thereof.
Forest Bathing at Mt. Tamalpais State Park: Spend some quality time in nature, breathing in the fresh air and engaging all your senses to enjoy the natural beauty around you on this one-mile roundtrip walk on an ADA-accessible trail.

Back to Nature Block Party at Candlestick Point State Recreation Area: Artist Malik Seneferu, working with Alice Griffith residents, is unveiling banner artwork celebrating the community activism that brought Candlestick to life.
Inspired By Land – Art in Parks – Bothe Napa Valley State Park: Guided hikes, interactive art workshops, and artist popups mean a chance to not only celebrate local artists but also make some artwork yourself.
Tackle Plant Invaders at Mount Diablo State Park: A hands-on opportunity to help care for Mount Diablo and its amazing variety of life.
Sunday, June 15
Arriba and Beyond: A Bilingual Summit Hike at Jack London State Historic Park: Explore Jack London State Historic Park in a new way – whether that means hiking a trail you’ve never been on or learning the Spanish and English names of the plants and animals around you.
