Friday, June 12
Campando en las Secoyas Costeras! (Campout in the Coast Redwoods!): Camp under the towering redwoods of Humboldt Redwoods State Park and enjoy guided activities that introduce the joys of camping, nature exploration and outdoor skills. We’re excited to partner again with CUMBRE Humboldt, Latino Outdoors, and Save the Redwoods League to provide this immersive and all-inclusive recreational opportunity. This program is all about fostering connection—with the land, with nature, and with each other—so families can experience the wonder of California’s redwood parks while building community and a sense of belonging in their local parks. Note: Registration for this event is full.
Storytime and S’mores in MacKerricher State Park: Join us for a special California State Parks Week celebration for families. Gather around the campfire for the lively, child-friendly story of Why?—an interactive story about curiosity and belonging, followed by campfire s’mores!

Discover Nature’s Hidden Secrets at Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve: Discover how a redwood grove tells its story through seasonal shifts, bringing new wonders weekly. We will discuss briefly how redwoods and other species relate to each other to create a beautiful and healthy life balance in the forest. Then we will go on a 1-hour walking tour and find what secrets the forest has to reveal.
Prescribed Fire – Restoring Natural Cycles for Forest Health at Hendy Woods State Park: Join us for a special campfire program highlighting the work of California State Parks’ Wildfire and Forest Resilience program. Fire is a natural part of a forest’s cycle of growth and renewal. Discover how State Parks utilize prescribed fire as a land management tool to support forest health. Marshmallows will be roasted for s’mores near the end of this campfire program.
Sunday, June 14
Forest Restoration Volunteer Workday at Trinidad State Beach: Help State Parks restore the Sitka spruce forest. Next to habitat loss, invasive species are the greatest threat to maintaining natural diversity. Non-native plants, animals and pathogens harm native ecosystems by competing with and displacing native species, accelerating erosion, impacting wetlands, and harming plants and wildlife. This event will focus on restoring the Sitka spruce forest and coastal scrub by removing invasive non-native plant species, such as English ivy.
