SACRAMENTO—California State Parks and partners will be celebrating the fifth annual California State Parks Week with special events at state parks throughout the North State beginning Wednesday, June 10. Presented by California State Parks, California State Parks Foundation, Parks California and Save the Redwoods League, this exciting celebration will feature special programs and activities highlighting the incredible diversity of the nation’s largest state park system.
WHAT: Fifth Annual California State Parks Week
WHEN: Wednesday, June 10, to Sunday, June 14
NORTH STATE EVENTS:
Saturday, June 13
Forebay Fun Day at Lake Oroville State Recreation Area: The Forebay Fun Day is a family event where visitors can enjoy a variety of activities as they relax at the North Forebay. Participants are invited to engage with tie dye, chalk drawing, bubble fun, an Inspiration Walk and butterfly release. Several community partners will share their programs, including the Butte County Library’s mobile library, West Coast Falconry Raptors, Healing Sound Bowls and City of Oroville Museums.
Pollinator Party: Bug Out! at William B. Ide Adobe State Historic Park: This event explores the relationships between pollinators, plants and people. This year, visitors are going to Bug Out! by expanding the Pollinator Party to include other important insects, like decomposers. The event includes local community organizations from Tehama County and the surrounding area. By celebrating and learning about pollinators, the event provides families with opportunities to expand their knowledge of ecosystems. Activities include a ladybug and butterfly release, pollinator costume parade and contest, StoryWalk©, pollinator arts and crafts, temporary exhibits, giveaways, an obstacle course and activities by community participants.

Explore the Historic Courthouse Museum at Shasta State Historic Park: Explore local Gold Rush history during guided tour of the historic park’s Courthouse Museum on Saturday, June 13, at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., and Sunday, June 14, at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Each tour lasts approximately 45 minutes and begins at the entrance of the Courthouse Museum. Tours are free and parking is available at no cost along State Route 299. The courthouse features historical exhibits and an exceptional collection of historic California artwork. The museum’s interior is air-conditioned, but summer temperatures in Shasta can exceed 100 degrees. Please bring water and limit time outdoors.
